Distribution and Container Freight Station Opportunities at Port of Philadelphia

For Pyle Corporation, Mr. Gilbert completed a marketing study to assess the feasibility of opening a container freight station in the Philadelphia area to provide import and export LCL services. Study components included an in-depth analysis of port activity by commodity, a review of customs requirements pertaining to the handling of in-bond freight, development of pro-forma financials, and final recommendations advising a course of action.

Market Opportunity and Strategy Development for Truckload Carrier

Mr. Gilbert is currently assessing the opportunities for growth and helping to develop a marketing strategy for a Palm Beach County-based truckload carrier. This project includes an analysis of new commodities that could be handled by lane, capacity measurement, and an operational review. The final deliverable will be a set of recommendations to the owners on how to fully exploit the opportunities available to their business.

Market Analysis of Video Security Software Applications in Transportation

Mr. Gilbert recently completed a market study of opportunities in the transportation market for a video analysis software company. The study included a mode-by-mode review of security issues and concerns within the transportation sector, identified potential target markets, and advised on how the firm could build relationships and gain entry into this critical segment. Homeland security and Transportation Security Administration guidelines were considered as part of this analysis.

Network Optimization of Plant and Fleet Operations at BOC Group

Mr. Gilbert led a joint US/UK team at BOC Group to develop specifications and configure a new $400K logistics-planning software tool. Mr. Gilbert created a detailed, 8-month project plan and budget. He then selected and managed a team of developers and enlisted organization-wide support to create the finished application. Annual benefits of over $750K are being realized and the system is used today to optimize settings at hundreds of plants and plan deliveries made by thousands of vehicles worldwide.
