Transportation and Logistics CO2 Emissions Modeling
Gilbert Group consultants recently built global finished goods distribution
cost and carbon footprint models for two mid-size electronics
manufacturers.
The results showed that one client could save $12 million annually and
reduce carbon footprint 90% by opening two additional full-service
distribution centers in Europe and Asia. The second study
revealed that transport costs could be reduced by 30% and CO2 emissions
could be reduced 20% with the opening of a Hong Kong DC and relocation of
critical suppliers to mainland China.
Gilbert Group has consistently found that efforts to reduce environmental
impacts has the added benefit of reducing logistics and transportation
costs.
